VisitEngland’s Fan in a Van

VisitEngland, the country’s tourist board launched a nationwide campaign in 2012 to find ‘England’s biggest fan’. They offered an exciting opportunity to follow the route of the Olympic Torch Relay around England in a vintage camper van and needed someone who could blog, tweet and inspire the public along the way… they found me!

I worked non-stop for 11 weeks to uncover England’s greatest tourist attractions and hidden gems, providing blog posts, photos and videos whilst on the road. I attracted over 1,300 twitter followers in two months and I also represented VisitEngland in numerous local and national media interviews including Sky News and the Sunday Mirror.

Visit England reported a 10:1 return on investment from the project.  I also won the Avis A-list Award for ‘Best Road Trip Travel Blog’.

Here’s a little video captured by the Camping and Caravanning Club at the start of my epic journey…
