Northern English Voiceover, Rachel Kershaw

I’ve been talking for a living for over a decade. You’ll hear me on TV, radio, in-store, online and even when you’re on hold. My voice is versatile enough to sound like a streetwise 25 year old, a professional 30 something, or a busy Mum in her 40’s. Sshh, don’t tell anyone, but in reality, I’m none of those things!

I’ve been cast by some rather lovely brands up and down the country, including Howden Insurance, Costa Coffee, B&M, Morrisons, Damart, Booths, NHS, Burger King, Asda Mobile, Harrison Holidays, Merlin Attractions, Manchester Pride, Superdrug and many more.

My voice can be heard on a variety of commercials, corporate videos, e-learning and on-hold systems. I’m a regular on in-store ads for many high street favourites including Boots, Poundland, Tesco and Co-op, I’ve even recorded the commentary for an open-top sightseeing bus!

As I’m originally from Lancashire but have resided in Newcastle upon Tyne for the last 20 years my accent is generally regarded as ‘generic northern’. The age range of my voice is early 20’s – late 40’s, but I’m happy to adapt my style to suit your brief.

I often work alongside the UK’s ‘Best Male Voiceover’ (as awarded by VOX), Jack Oddie. Our accents and age range are similar, and our studios are less than 10 miles apart. So, for those scripts that require ‘two northerners talking’, you can get that authentic conversational style by booking us together!

I use a Neumann TLM 103 microphone in my tailor-made voiceover booth. It’s connected to a pretty powerful Windows computer outside the booth using a Solid State Logic SSL 2 Audio Interface. This set up has been tested by some of the best producers in the country to high acclaim.

Recording sessions can be arranged via Source Connect, Cleanfeed and Zoom. I’m also happy to self-record and edit my own audio, then send you the files in your required format.

Above all, my aim is to make your voiceover projects easy, fun and sound amazing!

I haven’t entered any voiceover awards recently but every time I have, I’ve been shortlisted! Here are some of my accolades:
